How to Pick Your Reception Venue

Once the christening ceremony is over, chances are you will want to have a reception in order for you and your guests to celebrate the special day. When it comes to choosing a venue for such an event there are a number of different options to consider. There is no right and wrong answer about the type of venue to choose, so it just comes down to personal taste.

Church Hall

Many churches will have a church hall which can be hired for next to nothing. If your babies christening is at the local church at it just happens to have a good hall next to it, then this might be the best option for you. If you do choose to do this, you need to bare in mind that you will need caterers to provide food and drink for your congregation and this should be accounted for in your budget. You migh also want to decorate the hall somewhat, as they can often be fairly sparce.

Hotel

Obviously you do not want to have your guests travelling to the other side of town, but if there is a nice hotel near your christening venue, this can be a great place to hold a reception. Prices will vary widely depending on the type of hotel and location, however one benefit is that they will be able to provide you with everything that you need such as decarations, food drink and even music should you want it.

Pub

A slightly cheaper option that a hotel is a pub, and they can often be given to you free of charge. Just like a hotel, they can supply off of your needs and often they have exactly the right atmospherte that you want for a good old knees up after the ceremony.

At Home

Many people choose to hold the reception at home and this has many advantages, as well as some disadvantages. The main advantage is that you are fully in controll of the event and can make sure that everything is exactly as you want it. The disadvantage is that depending on the ammount of guests you have, you may find that your house is overcrowded. Also there is the issue of the mess that you will have to clean up when your guests leave.
